A beginner’s guide to Veganuary

Whether you’re thinking about going vegan full-time or simply looking to try more plant-based products, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy what you love the most: beer. There are plenty of brews that are in fact vegan, and we want to help you find them! Keep reading to discover some of our favourite plant-based bottles.

Why Should I Do Veganuary?

First of all, what’s the big deal about Veganuary? Well, it began as a way of getting more people to start leading a vegan lifestyle. However, there are lots of reasons why you might choose to take part in this month-long challenge.

The main reason, of course, is to avoid having any animal products in your diet. Many people opt to do it for health reasons or because of the impact on the environment, while others just like to test themselves by changing up their routine.

Why Is Beer Not Vegan?

Although there is a huge selection of lagers and ales that are vegan, there are some beers that aren’t. That’s due to a few of them using traces of certain animal products (such as isinglass or gelatin) in the brewing process. Luckily, there are several ways to tell which drinks are (and aren’t) vegan-friendly; you’ll be supping with confidence in no time!

What Beers are Vegan?

In reality, there are many more vegan brews than you might think! You just need to know where to look.

For instance, any German beverages that are brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law are vegan. That’s because these regulations state that water, barley and hops are the only ingredients that can be used in the production of beer. So, you can say hello to pints from the likes of ERDINGER, Paulaner and ABK.

If you’re a craft beer enthusiast, don’t worry, because there are plenty of other cans kicking around that you can savour. The entire range from First Chop, a Manchester-based brewery, is vegan-friendly! This means you have a vast selection to choose from, including a premium pale ale, a malty bitter and a sublime stout.

If you’d rather sample a variety of drinks from lots of different brands, why not pick up our Vegan Craft Beer Case with Glass? This brilliant box contains 12 beers in a range of styles, including cracking creations from an assortment of fine breweries.
