Tasty Veganuary Dishes Using Beer

Veganuary recipes are pretty hot right now and given all the marvellous, mouth-watering meals there are to choose from, we can see why. Here at Beerhunter, we like to play around with popular dishes by adding one main ingredient: vegan beer! Sounds perfect, right?

We’ve got a bunch of ideas in mind that are sure to tickle your taste buds, all of which are featured in this handy article. So, put your reading glasses on and get your aprons at the ready.

Let the plant-based cooking (and baking) commence!

Brew-tastic Vegan Chilli

Chilli is a great meal: it’s packed with fresh veggies, and it’s incredibly easy to make. To spice things up a little, we’d recommend using a stout beer in this remarkable recipe. Trust us, it truly packs a punch, as the different aromas running through the brew add a unique taste.

Simply sauté onions, red pepper and garlic before adding cumin, chilli powder, tomato paste, black beans, celery and carrots. After you’ve mixed these scrummy ingredients together, stir in a can of POD vanilla oatmeal stout from First Chop. Wait for the flavours to infuse as you bring the pot to a boil, then fill up on a yummy plate of deliciousness!

You can crack open a cold one to sip on as you prepare it, too – that’s the real beauty of cooking with a nice brew.

Cheery Beer-y Mac ‘n’ Cheese

If you fancy a hearty dish to scoff down, opt for a pot of mac ‘n’ cheese. Your senses will immediately awaken when the creamy, beer-illiant sauce hits your tongue.

Pick out your favourite plant milk (we’d recommend almond) from your local supermarket. Add toasted quinoa flour to your basket, along with nutritional yeast, Dijon mustard, turmeric, cayenne pepper and of course, macaroni pasta.

Remember to grab a First Chop Hoppy Blonde AVA ale, as this will really enhance the flavour. Then, get your cook on for around 30 minutes and indulge in a rich, delectable meal. A plate of this gooey-goodness will definitely warm you up on a cold winter’s evening!

Beer-licious Banana Bread

Looking for a brew-based dessert this Veganuary? How about making banana bread with beer? Vegan sweet treats are loved by most, but even more so when they are laced with hops.

That’s why this baked delight is sure to please. All you need is whole-wheat flour, two ripe bananas (mashed), baking powder, vegetable oil and one bottle (or can) of the good stuff – beer!

Just combine all of these ingredients, pour the mixture into your loaf tin and voila, your dreamy dessert is ready to be baked, at 175oC. After 50 minutes, remove it from the oven and savour every bite.
