I’ve never needed much of an excuse to pretend I’m on a Mediterranean holiday — but if there’s one thing that instantly transports me to a sun-soaked Spanish terrace, it’s cracking open an ice-cold cerveza.
There’s something effortlessly refreshing about Spanish beer. It’s light, crisp, full of flavour — and just feels right on a sunny day (or even a rainy one when I need to pretend I’m in Barcelona).
When I found Beerhunter’s Spanish beer collection, I knew I was onto something good. These aren’t just beers with a Spanish flag on the label — they’re proper, premium lagers brewed in Barcelona and beyond, and they taste like summer in a glass.
Spanish lagers are brewed with a Mediterranean mindset — crisp, well-balanced, and made to be drunk cold in the heat. But what I love most is how they manage to be light yet full of character. You don’t get any of that bland, watery stuff. Just smooth, satisfying beers with subtle malts, gentle hops, and a clean finish.
Perfect for garden parties, BBQs, tapas nights — or when you're just craving a holiday vibe in your own kitchen.
This is my ultimate go-to when I want variety and quality in one box. You get a bit of everything from the legendary Damm brewery:
Estrella Damm – The classic Barcelona beer. Light, crisp, and iconic.
Voll-Damm – Double malt and double flavour — perfect for food pairing.
Free Damm – Their alcohol-free option (surprisingly great!).
Daura Damm – Gluten-free, but still packs full lager flavour.
Inedit Damm – Designed with chefs for food pairing — floral and spicy.
It’s the kind of case that covers every occasion. I keep one on hand all summer.
This is hands down my favourite BBQ beer. Light, lemony, and insanely refreshing. A blend of lager and natural lemon juice — think beer shandy, but 10x better.
This one’s a real gem. Moritz isn’t as well known in the UK, but it’s huge in Barcelona. Their radler has subtle citrus vibes and a smooth finish — ideal when I want something lower ABV but still satisfying.
Smooth, biscuity malt and a gentle hop bitterness. This is my midweek fridge essential — light enough to go with anything, but flavourful enough to enjoy on its own.
Spanish beers are made for food. I’ve paired these with everything from:
Jamón and olives with Estrella
Chorizo skewers and Voll-Damm
Grilled prawns and Inedit Damm
Lemon radlers with spicy tortilla or manchego
Throw together a few small plates, crack a few beers, and you're basically in Barcelona.
Whether I’m having mates round, planning a Spanish-themed date night, or just pretending my patio is a beach bar, these beers hit the spot every time.
They're easy to drink, packed with character, and make me feel like I’m on holiday — even if it’s chucking it down in Manchester.
