Originally brewed by the monks for daily consumption at lunch, the Maredsous brewery has been operated by Duvel Moortgat since 1963. However, the recipe remains authentic to the original developed by generations of monks and is still preserved in the abbey's library. Like other abbey beers, a majority of the profits from Maredsous sales go towards charitable causes.
